Apparatus for validation of MRI in prostate - Bourne et al.

Radiological images such as MRI are affected by microstructural features, but it is often difficult to determine specific relationships. This article describes a 3D-printed, patient-specific mold designed from in vivo prostate MRI. The mold contains landmarks to align in vivo and ex vivo images. The mold is porous, allowing in situ tissue fixation, so that the effects of fixation on MRI signal can be examined. Finally, there are guides for histological slicing to align MRI and histological imaging planes for comparison.
